It was a little after 1:30 when it hit me–it’s Wednesday. Grabbing my bag, I hopped on my bike, sailed down the hill and into the bike valet parking.
The market is bustling with women carrying trendy baskets, men pulling wagons with resting little ones inside and shoppers chasing the shade under the big oak tree.
I squeeze through the crowd gathered around the corner citrus stand–the bins overflow with every kind of stone fruit and citrus from California’s central valley. Fruit tasting, haggling, and trading in progress.
The fragrant smell of lemons caught in the shadeless corner calls me over. They are the prize today. And the giant blackberries looking ready to burst.
