Announcing the Cake of the Month for April 2018
Orange poppyseed cake + passion dragon fruit marshmallow + piles of shredded dark chocolate
The number of days under a blue sky are starting to outnumber the gray ones. The thermometer has gained at least ten degrees and the calendar says April. It must be time to start dreaming of meals outdoors, sunsets, and tropical flavors.
I can't think of a better way to kick off April than this tropical cake that tastes like pure sunshine.
We combined passion fruit with a hint of dragon fruit for a marshmallow that is loaded with a tropical sweet tart flavor. The bright pink marshmallow sits on top of a tender butter cake full of aromatic orange zest and speckled with poppy seeds.
Each cake is topped with soft piles of shredded dark chocolate that instantly melts on your tongue, leaving behind a whisper of chocolate that pairs brilliantly with the passion fruit.
I can imagine parading these cakes around an afternoon tea party with friends, an evening dessert outside under the twinkle lights, or on the couch cuddled up with your favorite person.
This Spring is going to be amazing! I can feel it.
