A Cake Experience for August Subscribers
It was just before 6am on Monday morning. The world was still quiet and mostly dark as my eyes strained to open. I could hear a familiar sound coming from the kitchen. A mortar and pestle was already being put to work -- ahh, that is the sound of fresh spices being ground for our morning chai.
I rolled out of bed and into a blanket on the couch. The fog horns softly blowing through the cool morning air. The sun rising, the world waking. Josh and I sipped our chai and giggled at our chances of solar eclipse viewing from our foggy corner of the world in Santa Cruz.
Delicious, decadent, and fragrant, this cake is infused with the traditional flavors of masala chai -- cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger, and black pepper. Topped with our soft vanilla marshmallow, finished with a dip in vanilla bean speckled white chocolate. For our ginger-loving subscribers, we garnished three of the cakes with a tender piece of candied ginger on top.
